A screening of the film ‘A Dangerous Game’ will take place in Ayr Town Hall this evening (Tuesday 24th March) a mere four days before the controversial subject of the film – Donald Trump – flies into town to reveal more about his plans for the Turnberry golf resort down the coast.
The film, described as ‘a funny, penetrating and timely film’ by film critic Alison Rowat, is the sequel to the highly successful documentary ‘You’ve Been Trumped’ which followed Trump as he battled locals to push through his plans for a luxury golf course in Aberdeenshire.
Audience members at the free event in Ayr will be in good company, as the film has been screened across international film festivals, including the Environmental Film Festival in Washington DC and the Prague One World Film Festival, since its release last year.
In ‘A Dangerous Game’ film director Anthony Baxter follows billionaire Trump and other super-rich businessmen as they bulldoze through plans to turn some of the Earth’s most beautiful places into playgrounds exclusively for the super-rich. Trump, for example, is adamant that the widely popular Scottish renewable energy program must bend to his personal demands, as windmills spoil the view from the luxury resort.
The film follows Trump’s detractors too, including Scottish salmon fisherman Michael Forbes and film star Alec Baldwin. They share a concern for the environmental and about the negative economic impact of super-luxury golf courses which only serve the world’s wealthiest people.
The event, which is being held by the Ayrshire Branch of the Scottish Green Party is free, but donations to cover the cost of the screening would be very welcome on the night. Doors open at 7pm and there will be refreshments and a discussion after the screening.
